SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse softball team (27-20, 6-16 ACC) fell 7-0 in the opener of its final regular season series against Cal (33-18, 9-13 ACC). The Golden Bears opened the scoring with four runs in the third and never looked back, holding the scoreless Orange to just four hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Cal struck first with a four-run top of the third inning, opening the scoring with a two-run single followed by a two-run double later in the frame. The Golden Bears added to their lead with a solo home run in the fifth and another in the sixth, extending the advantage to 6-0.

Cal tacked on another run in the top of the sixth with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, sealing a 7-0 victory for the Golden Bears.

OF NOTE:

Madelyn Lopez, Jadyn Burney, Vanessa Flores, and Kelly Breen all recorded hits for Syracuse. Breen, who had a double, hit the lone extra base hit for the 'Cuse.
The loss moves Syracuse to 1-5 all-time against Cal.
