
Orange Extend Winning Streak Against Cornell

SYRACUSE, New York – A balanced offensive attack and a career night for goalkeeper Daniella Guyette helped No. 4 Syracuse women's lacrosse defeat Cornell, 18-10, in the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange remain unbeaten this season, improving to 3-0.

Ten different players scored for Syracuse, including Gracie Britton, who recorded her first career hat trick. Emma Ward, Olivia Adamson and Molly Guzik recorded five points each.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With Cornell leading, 2-1, Adamson scored the first of her three goals to spark the Orange on a 5-0 scoring run that gave 'Cuse a 6-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Caitlin Slaminko briefly halted the Orange offensive outburst with the first goal of the second quarter, but Syracuse answered with six-straight goals to push the lead to 12-3.

The 'Cuse offense continued to click after intermission, twice building the lead to 10 goals. Syracuse led, 18-8, before Cornell (1-1) found the back of the net twice in the final minute for the 18-10 final.

Guyette finished with a career-high 14 saves, including eight in the second half. She was coming off an 11-save performance last Saturday at then No. 7 Maryland, which marked the first double-digit save contest of her career. Guyette has an 8.81 goals-against average and a .528 save percentage in her first season in the starting lineup.

Coco Vandiver caused six turnovers in the game, which ties for second on Syracuse's single-game record list. In addition, Kaci Benoit picked up a career-high five ground balls.
