#4 Orange Winning Streak Snapped at #2 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – No. 4 Syracuse women's lacrosse team had its three-game winning streak snapped in a 16-8 loss at No. 2 North Carolina in the ACC opener for both teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams traded goals before Olivia Vergano netted back-to-back goals give North Carolina (4-0) a 3-1 advantage. Molly Guzik scored the first of her two goals to cut the deficit to one, but the Tar Heels recorded the next eight goals to build an 11-3 lead.

North Carolina led 12-5 at halftime, and the Orange (3-1) couldn't cut into the deficit in the second half in their first loss of the season.

OF NOTE
Goalkeeper Daniella Guyette reached double figures in saves for the third-straight game with a career-high 16. Emma Ward led the Orange with four points on two goals and two assists. Guzik and Alexa Vogelman had two goals each.
