
Undefeated Road Streak Ends in Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Syracuse Women's Ice Hockey was handed their first loss on the road this season as Cornell scored five unanswered goals to give the Orange a 5-0 defeat Tuesday evening at Lynah Rink.
Syracuse (5-6-0) struggled to generate offense throughout the game managing 22 shots on goal. The Orange went 0-for-4 on the power play and gave up two power play scores. MaÏka Paquin made her second start of the season in goal and finished with 28 saves in the loss.
Cornell (5-0-0) had a dominant offensive performance during the game. Five different players scored for the Big Red, led by Piper Grober and Mckenna Van Gelder who each tallied a goal and an assist. Annelies Bergmann earned the shutout with 22 saves.

How it Happened
- Cornell opened the scoring late in the first period when Rose Dwyer found the net at 18:21 assisted by Beatrice Perron-Roy, to give the Big Red a 1-0 lead heading into the second.
- The Big Red extended their lead in the second period with two goals by Georgia Schiff who scored at 1:22 assisted by Delaney Fleming and Van Gelder, and at 10:31 when Lindzi Avar added a power-play goal assisted by Karel Prefontaine and Nora Curtis for the 3-0 lead.
- 'Cuse outshot the Big Red 11-10 in the second period.
- In the third period, Cornell scored two more goals from Van Gelder on the power play at 6:09 assisted by Grober and Grace Dwyer, and at 8:34 with a goal by Grober assisted by Fleming.
Behind the Numbers
- Jackson Kinsler led the Orange with four shots on the evening, five other SU skaters recorded multiple shots.
- Sami Gendron led the defense with four blocked shots.
