The Orange Score Late to Defeat Lindenwood

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's ice hockey team defeated Lindenwood 2-1 Friday evening at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
Syracuse (13-13-3, 9-8-2 AHA) broke through in the third period with a pair of goals to snap a two-game losing streak. The Orange dominated possession throughout the contest, outshooting the Lions 37-30 while Ava Drabyk made 29 saves in net.
Lindenwood (8-17-2, 6-10-1 AHA) pulled within one goal late in the third period but could not find the equalizer. Lexington Secreto made 35 saves in the losing effort for the Lions.
How it Happened
- The first period saw both teams trade chances in a scoreless frame, but neither team could capitalize on their opportunities as the game remained 0-0 heading into the first intermission.
- The Orange continued to press in the second period, outshooting the Lions 17-12, but strong goaltending from both netminders kept the game scoreless.
- Tervonen broke the deadlock just 49 seconds into the third period with a power-play goal, assisted by Maya D'Arcy. Then Jordan Blouin extended the advantage to 2-0 at 8:33, assisted by Emma Gnade and Celia Wiegand.
- Lindenwood's Paige Cline scored with the extra attacker at 18:02 to make it 2-1 assisted by Silje Gundersen and Josey Dunne-Weeks.
Behind the Numbers
- Gnade led the Orange with six shots on goal, added an assist, and won 8 of 12 faceoffs.
- Charlotte Hallett led the defensive effort with four blocked shots, while Sami Gendron and D'Arcy and added three blocks.
- Syracuse went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Lindenwood was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
