
Syracuse Unable to Match #3 Penn State's Offense

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Syracuse women's ice hockey team faced a tough challenge against No. 3 Penn State, falling 7-0 Friday evening at Pegula Ice Arena in the first semifinal game.
Syracuse (15-17-4) could not break through in the contest and find the back of the net. Ava Drabyk and Bella Gould combined for 29 saves in the pipes.
Penn State (30-5-0) was led by Tessa Janecke, who recorded a hat trick and Katie DeSa who had 16 saves in the shutout.
How it Happened
- The first period saw Penn State build a 2-0 lead with goals by Matilde Fantin and Janecke. Syracuse generated six shots on goal in the opening frame.
- Penn State extended their lead in the second period with goals from Mya Faslet and Janecke, taking a 4-0 advantage into the final intermission. The Orange continued to battle and had six shots in the middle frame.
- The third period saw Penn State add three more goals, with Janecke completing her hat trick on the power play before Nicole Hall and Abby Stonehouse added late tallies.

- Emma Gnade led the Orange with three shots on goal and won six of 12 faceoffs.
