Orange Unable to Contain Lindenwood in Loss

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's ice hockey team was shut out 4-0 by Lindenwood Saturday afternoon at Tennity Ice Pavilion in the series finale.
Syracuse (13-14-3, 9-9-2 AHA) couldn't pull out the win as the Lions dominated the third period with four unanswered goals. Despite outshooting Lindenwood 37-34, the Orange were unable to solve goaltender Lexington Secreto, who made 37 saves for the shutout.
Lindenwood (9-17-2, 7-10-1 AHA) rebounded from Friday's loss behind a dominant third-period performance. Molly Henderson led the way with two goals and two assists.
How it Happened
- The first period saw Syracuse outshoot Lindenwood 13-10 but neither team could break through. Both goaltenders were sharp as the game remained scoreless through 20 minutes despite several quality chances for the Orange.
- The second period continued the defensive stalemate. Both teams had power-play opportunities but strong goaltending from Ava Drabyk and Secreto kept the game scoreless heading into the final frame.
- Lindenwood broke through just 12 seconds into the third period when Molly Henderson scored an unassisted goal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Paige Cline made it 2-0 at 3:17, assisted by Henderson. Josey Dunne-Weeks extended the lead to 3-0 at 10:08 with helpers from Henderson and Zsofia Pazmandi. Henderson capped the scoring with a power-play goal at 17:44, assisted by Dunne-Weeks and Pazmandi, to complete the 4-0 shutout.
Behind the Numbers
- Drabyk made 30 saves in the loss.
- Syracuse outshot Lindenwood 37-34 but was unable to convert on any of their chances.
- Maya D'Arcy led the Orange with seven shots and Jackson Kinsler had six.
- Sami Gendron and D'Arcy led the defense with three blocked shots.
