#9 Orange Handle Business in Boston

NEWTON, Mass. – Ninth-ranked Syracuse University field hockey picked up a big 3-1 road win Friday night at Boston College, securing a berth in the ACC Tournament in two weeks.
Three different players found the back of the net for Syracuse (11-4, 3-4 ACC) as Aubrey Turner, Lieke Leeggangers and Liz Stange all scored in the winning effort. Turner added an assist while Bo Van Kempen and Lana Hamilton also contributed helpers. Jessie Eiselin started in goal and made three saves in the first half while Tane King stopped three shots in the second half.
Boston College (5-10, 0-7) got its lone goal from Madelieve Drion in the fourth quarter. Madeline Leigh picked up an assist on the play. Carine Van Wiechen went the distance for the Eagles, making three saves in 60 minutes of work.
How it Happened

How it Happened
- Neither team found the scoreboard in the opening 15 minutes despite Syracuse earning a penalty corner in the 13th minute. Van Kempen took the shot but Van Wiechen made the save to keep it scoreless through one quarter.
- The Orange broke through in the 20th minute as Turner got Syracuse on the board first, converting a half-field pass from van Kempen for a 1-0 lead.
- Just 36 seconds later, Leeggangers doubled the advantage with a diving touch as Turner returned the favor with the assist, giving the Orange a 2-0 cushion heading into the halftime break.
- Syracuse extended its lead early in the third quarter when Stange scored with a no-look, behind-the-back tap in the 41st minute with Hamilton picking up the assist to make it 3-0 through 45 minutes.
- The Eagles got on the board late in the fourth quarter as Drion found the back of the net with an assist from Leigh in the 53rd minute, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
- Syracuse held on through the final minutes to secure the ACC road victory and improve to 3-4 in ACC play.
- Syracuse closes the 2025 regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1 with a road trip at Louisville.
- Game time is set for noon on ACC Network Extra.
