How It Happened
- The Bobcats wasted little time asserting their dominance, striking twice in the opening period. Lamarche opened the scoring at the 6:11 mark with Frenette earning the assist. Quinnipiac doubled its advantage just over six minutes later when Uens converted on the power play at 12:24, with Sennick and Prier setting up the tally.
- Quinnipiac maintained its momentum into the second period, scoring just 36 seconds after the opening faceoff. Frenette found the back of the net with helpers from Lamarche and Johnson to push the lead to 3-0. The visitors added another power play goal midway through the frame when Prier scored at 9:52, assisted by Jarvis and Sennick, giving Quinnipiac a commanding 4-0 cushion heading into the final period.
- The Orange finally broke through in the third period when Gnade scored at 8:59, assisted by Kinsler and Blouin, cutting the deficit to 4-1. However, any hopes of a Syracuse comeback were quickly extinguished when Lamarche netted her second goal of the game with a short-handed strike at 18:05 to cap the scoring.
- Quinnipiac's special teams proved to be the difference, as the Bobcats converted two of seven power play opportunities while successfully killing all three Syracuse power plays. The visitors also demonstrated their defensive prowess by scoring short-handed late in the contest.
