
Both XC Teams Finish Top-20 at NCAAs

The Syracuse cross country team each finished in the top-20 at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, a feat just 12 programs nationally accomplished this season.
The men's team turned in an 11th-place finish, led by an All-America performance from Sam Lawler for the second-straight season. The women notched their best finish since 2015, taking 20th.
Lawler placed 28th, crossing the 10k finish line in a time of 29:20.6. Assaf Harari (29:41.4) was 71st, followed five spots back by Alex Comerford (29:43.7). Benne Anderson (29:51.6) took 91st and Connor Ackley (30:09.9) rounded out the scoring in 139th at his first NCAA Championships. Ethan Wechsler (30:13.3) and Kamari Miller (31:50.2) rounded out the field.
The Orange scored 342 points, part of five ACC teams in the top-12. BYU won the team title with 124 points.
The women were led by Savannah Roark (20:32.1) finished 101st in the 6k. Emma Eatman followed her by five spots in 20:33.7. Rylie Lusk (20:37.9) was 115th. Freshman Selma Anderson (20:49.9) placed 154th, followed by Heidi Demeo (21:02.8) in 182nd to conclude the scoring. Madeline Heintz (21:04.8) and Jayden Harberts (22:19.7) concluded the scoring.
The 'Cuse women scored 512 points, BYU swept the team titles by taking 147 on the women's side.
