Orange Offense Erupts for Seven Goals in Road Win

Syracuse improved to 11-4 overall with a nonconference road win at Bucknell on Thursday night. The Orange offense exploded for a 7-2 win with three different Orange recording multi-goal games. Syracuse continues its three-game road stretch with a nonconference game at No. 8 UConn on Sunday.

After a goal-less first frame which saw Syracuse hold a 4-0 advantage in shots, the Orange erupted with three goals in the second frame. Bo van Kempen scored twice on penalty corners to give SU a 2-0 lead. Her first goal was in the 18^th minute on an assist from Berber Bakermans and Willemijn Boogert. Less than five minutes later she found the back of the cage again. Annabelle Vossenaar and Lieke Leeggangers were credited with assists on van Kempen's goal.

Boogert scored on a Syracuse fast break with a feed from Lana Hamilton in the 27^th minute for a three-goal lead.

At halftime, the Orange were 2-for-2 on penalty corners and had a 7-0 shot advantage with five on goal.

Hamilton joined in the action when she tipped in Vivian Rowan's shot for her first goal of the season 64 seconds into the third quarter. Bucknell scored after a Syracuse goalkeeper change on a penalty corner to cut the deficit to three, 4-1. Hamilton scored her second goal, half a minute into the fourth frame for a 5-1 'Cuse lead at 48:18 when she caught a pass from Bo Madden.

Lily Neilsen scored her second goal of the game for the Bison at 50:52 making it a 5-2 game. Boogert extended the lead back to four with her second goal, a rebound from her own shot, four minutes later. Rowan scored a goal of her own to seal the win in the 57^th minute when she found the ball on the Sarah Althouse's doorstep and tapped it by for a 7-2 lead.

Syracuse outshot Bucknell 18-7 and had a 4-2 advantage in penalty corners. Louise Pert earns her 10^th win of the season in goal for the Orange, who have won five of their last six games.
