Orange Alums to Compete at Pan-Am Sixes Championship

The first step toward the 2028 Olympic Games begins this week in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, and a few Orange alums will be on the field. Jalyn Jimerson '22, Sierra Cockerille '22 and current senior Paisley Cook will represent the Haudenosaunee Nation, while Maddy Baxter '24 will suit up for the host country, Canada, as the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships get underway.

Cockerille spent five years with the Orange and earned an All-America nod in her final season as a graduate student. She finished her career with 76 goals, 53 assists and 129 points. Jimerson spent four seasons in Syracuse, finishing with four goals in her Orange career. Both Jimerson and Cockerille were part of the 2021 Syracuse team that reached the Final Four. Cockerille helped lead the Orange to another Championship Weekend appearance in 2023.

Cook, who will also represent the Haudenosaunee, enters her first season with the Orange after beginning her career at UAlbany. The transfer was among the nation's top draw takers and is the reigning America East Midfielder of the Year.

Baxter rounds out the group of Orange alums at the event, playing for Canada. She appeared in 84 games across four seasons for the Orange, helping Syracuse to the 2021, 2023 and 2024 Final Four. She finished her career at Syracuse with 74 goals and 12 assists.

The event is the first of four continental qualifiers for the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championship, which serves as the first stage of qualifying for lacrosse's return to the Olympics. Eight nations will compete in Oshawa, with each team playing three round-robin games before advancing directly to placement day on Sunday. There are no playoff rounds, and the top five teams will earn a spot in next year's 16-team World Championship.

The World Lacrosse Sixes Championship is set for Oct. 4-10, 2027, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Additional qualifying stops for the World Sixes Championship will take place in Sunshine Coast, Australia; Salou, Spain; and Johannesburg, South Africa later this year.
