Levy Departs Syracuse Staff to Become Head Coach at Hofstra

Syracuse women's lacrosse assistant coach Nicole Levy '19 has been named the next head coach at Hofstra University, the school announced Friday afternoon. Levy will step down from her post with the Orange to take on her first head coaching role.

Levy's promotion continues a long lineage of Syracuse alums moving into head coaching positions. Head coach Regy Thorpe praised his former player and assistant as the latest alum to become a head coach.

"We're unbelievably excited for Nicole in this next journey," Thorpe said. "She's going to make an immediate impact at Hofstra, just as she did here, both as a coach and a player. It's also a great day for Syracuse lacrosse to see another alum join the head coaching ranks and continue that lineage. We wish Nicole nothing but the best, and she will always be part of the Syracuse lacrosse family."

Levy first joined the Syracuse lacrosse program in 2016 as a player, earning Rookie of the Year honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine, the ACC and the ECAC. She posted 68 points as a freshman, with 46 goals and 22 assists. The Long Island native went on to finish her career with 222 points, becoming just the 10th player in program history to reach that mark. Her 81 career assists is tied for the 10th-most in program history.

Levy moved directly into coaching after her playing career, serving as offensive coordinator at Colorado from 2019-23. She then joined the staff at Florida alongside Thorpe, helping lead the Gators to national semifinal appearances in 2024 and 2025, before following him to Syracuse as part of his inaugural staff with the Orange. She helped mentor 2026 IWLCA All-American Molly Guzik, guiding her transition from midfield to attack in her first season on the Syracuse staff.

Levy's appointment at Hofstra is effective immediately. The Orange will conduct a national search to fill the opening.
