The Syracuse women's rowing team wrapped up its season at the NCAA Championships on Sunday morning and logged the best team finish in program history in ninth out of 22 teams. This tops the previous mark of 10th, which the Orange posted in 2021. The event was held at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia.
The Varsity Four started the morning with a fifth-place finish, posting a time of 7:00.526. California won the race before Yale took second and Brown took third. The fifth-place finish places the Orange at 11th overall in the Fours.
The Second Varsity Eight was next up on the water. The Orange closed furiously over the final stretch to edge Brown for fourth place with a time of 6:08.640, just a tenth of a second ahead. Washington took first, followed by Michigan then California. This places the Orange as 10th overall in the nation in the 2V8.
The Varsity Eight wrapped the Orange's season in style, blazing to a third-place finish with a time of 5:58.245. Washington took first and California in second. The third-place finish places Syracuse's Varsity Eight ninth overall nationally.
Texas won the event with 130 points followed by Stanford with 125 and Tennesse in third with 119. Syracuse tallied 80 points. The Orange sent all three boats to the A/B semifinal races with a 22-team field for the first time in program history before they all qualified for the petite finals on Sunday.Unbelievably proud of this HISTORIC group‼️ pic.twitter.com/JyzCJMrDJ8
