
Orange Send All Three Boats to NCAA A/B Semifinals for First Time in Program History

Syracuse women's rowing made program history at the NCAA Championships on Friday, sending all three boats to the A or B semifinals for the first time in program history following heat racing on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia. Each will now race later this afternoon in their respective semifinals.
The Varsity Eight started the day with a second-place finish in heat one with a time of 6:06.330, just three seconds behind Tennessee. The Orange had a two second cushion over third-place Washington and were nearly 10 seconds clear of Michigan in fourth. Oregon State finished fifth. The performance sends them to the A semifinal where they will line up against Brown, Yale, Texas, Stanford and Ohio State at 4:52 p.m.
The Second Varsity Eight raced to a third place finish, trailing Stanford and Tennessee. They finished with a time of 6:15.414. Syracuse bested Ohio State and UCF in the heat. The 2V8 will now race against Brown, Princeton, Stanford, Yale and Michigan in the semifinal race at 5:08 p.m.
The Varsity Four raced to a third-place finish as well, clocking in at 6:58.478. Tennessee won the heat while Rutgers took second. UMass and Jacksonville rounded out the finishers in fourth and fifth, respectively. They'll race their semifinal race against Virginia, Stanford, Tennessee, California and Miami at 5:32 p.m.
The top three finishers in the A and B semifinals will advance to the grand finals, which are scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 31.
