SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Joey Spallina etched his name atop the Syracuse men's lacrosse record books Saturday afternoon, surpassing Mike Powell as the program's all-time points leader as the No. 5 Orange closed out the regular season home schedule with a 14-7 victory over Colgate at the JMA Wireless Dome.

How it Happened
- The Orange burst out to a 3-0 lead inside the first four minutes of the contest, with Leo striking twice, the second on a Spallina feed, and Spallina adding an unassisted goal in between. That second Leo goal gave Spallina 308 career points and the all-time mark. Colgate answered with back-to-back goals from Tristan Schaefer and Emmet Crotty to pull within one, but Leo completed the first-quarter hat trick and Spallina capped a 5-2 first with a Leo-assisted strike with three seconds remaining.
- The Orange stretched the lead to 6-2 to open the second on a Luke Rhoa goal set up by Thomson, but Colgate responded with consecutive goals from Drouin-assisted Hunter and Carter Cadin to cut it to 6-4. Leo answered quickly to restore the three-goal cushion at 7-4 heading into the half.
- Colgate kept pace in the third quarter, matching Syracuse goal-for-goal in a 3-3 stanza. Thomson and Greg Elijah-Brown scored for the Orange, both assisted by Rhoa, and Jake Spallina deposited a feed from his brother Joey to make it 10-5. Quinson scored twice in the final three minutes of the third to trim the deficit to 10-7 heading to the fourth.
- Thomson took over in the final quarter, scoring three straight goals in just over three minutes to put the game out of reach. His hat trick in the fourth came with two of the tallies off Joey Spallina assists. Payton Anderson added a man-up goal, also from Spallina, to cap the scoring at 14-7.
- Spallina is now up to 313 career points, eclipsing Powell's mark of 307 to become the all-time leading scorer in program history. The record came in front of the home crowd on Senior Day in his final regular-season appearance at the JMA Wireless Dome.
- Leo's four-goal performance gave him his latest in a string of multi-goal games this season. Thomson also posted four goals to go along with an assist for five points on the afternoon.
- Thomson's four-goal burst in the fourth quarter, three of which came consecutively, was the decisive stretch of the game.
- Rhoa was the catalyst in the third quarter, picking up two assists on consecutive Syracuse goals to help the Orange maintain separation.
- McCool posted 10 saves and a .588 save percentage, holding the Raiders scoreless in the 17 minutes and 8 seconds. The Orange defense has now held opponents to single digits or fewer in back-to-back weeks.
- Syracuse improved to 52-12-1 all-time against Colgate.
- The Orange close out the regular season next weekend, traveling to South Bend to take on No. 1 Notre Dame at Arlotta Stadium.
- Faceoff is set for Noon on Saturday, April 25 on ACC Network Extra.
