THE GAME
- The final game of the regular season is here for the Orange and there is a lot of momentum up for grabs in South Bend this week.
- With a win, Syracuse can claim at least a share of the 2026 ACC Men's Lacrosse Regular Season title, and pair with a Duke win at UNC, would make the Orange the out-right Regular Season Champion and the one seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament.
- To do that, Syracuse will have to get past another top-ranked team, this time Notre Dame. The Orange have already taken down a number one team this season, besting No. 1 Maryland 11-9 at the Dome back in February. Syracuse has not played two number ones in the same season since 2011, and this matchup means this is just the fifth time since the USILA Coaches Poll began in 1973 the Orange have played multiple top-ranked teams (1999, 2001, 2004, 2011).
- Syracuse is looking to pick up its first win in South Bend since 2017, which is also the last time Syracuse won against a number one ranked team on the road (two such games away from the Dome since).
- The Orange wrapped up nonconference play last weekend with a 14-7 win over longtime opponent Colgate, improving to 6-0 at the JMA Wireless Dome this season. Syracuse will put its 4-3 road record to the test this weekend at Arlotta Stadium.
- Notre Dame has won its last three games and is a clean 4-0 at home this season, topping Duke 7-6 on the road last weekend. It's an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object this Saturday, as Syracuse's 13.21 goals per game average clashes with Notre Dame's 9.50 goals allowed per game.
- Syracuse held firm in the polls this week, staying at number five in the Coaches Poll and staying in a similar spot at five in the Media Poll. The Orange have been inside the top 10 all season long.
- Saturday's showdown is slated for a noon ET start on ACC Network Extra, ending a four-game run of televised games for Syracuse. The Orange have played six times on TV this season.
- Tyler Reidy will have the call for ACC Network Extra this weekend.
- The game will also air on the Syracuse Sports Network with Tim Leonard and Kyle Fetterly on the call for TK99/105 in Syracuse, through Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and the TuneIn app.
- Syracuse student-radio station WAER will be on hand as well for the game.
SCENARIO SZN
- It's time to shine for conference staffers around the country: Postseason Scenario SZN.
- Syracuse is assured a spot in next week's ACC Tournament, but the question remains at what seed.
- With a Syracuse win at Notre Dame on Saturday and a UNC loss to Duke, Syracuse is the out-right ACC Regular Season champion and the one seed.
- With a Syracuse win at Notre Dame and UNC win over Duke, Syracuse and UNC tie for the regular season title. Syracuse would be the two seed based on a head-to-head loss to UNC in April.
- A setback for the Orange this weekend locks Syracuse into the three seed, regardless of the UNC/Duke result.
- There is no scenario in which Syracuse can be the four seed, with Virginia at 2-2 and Syracuse winning head to headon April 11.
EVERYONE EATS
- Unselfish play has been key to success for the Orange this season.
- A lot of different players have been involved in the scoring lines for Syracuse from all positions with attackmen, middies, goalies, poles, defensive midfielders all finding the net or picking up assists.
- While winning eight of the last nine games, Syracuse has had at least half its goals in each win assisted, including five games with at least 75 percent of the Orange goals assisted.
- Over the last nine games, four of those contests have featured double-digit point getters, including 11 vs. Georgetown and Air Force and a dozen versus Duke and Virginia in the home wins across that stretch.
- The March 28 win over then-No. 4 Duke was evidence to that as 87.5 percent of the Syracuse goals were assisted. Only two goals came without a helper on the backend.
A WIN ON Saturday WOULD...
- Improve Syracuse to 13-11 all-time against Notre Dame, including a 3-6 away record against the Irish.
- Secure at least a share of the ACC Regular Season Title with a potential one-seed for the ACCT, depending on the UNC/Duke outcome.
- Bump Syracuse's away record to 5-3 on the season, the first season since 2017 with five or more away wins.
- Boast the Orange to 2-0 against No. 1 ranked teams.
- Be the 973rd win in program history, the second-most all-time among Division I programs.
