Two Named to CRCA Athletes to Watch List

Two student-athletes from the Syracuse women's rowing program were named to the CRCA Athletes to Watch List, the organization announced on Monday afternoon. Senior Captain Ellie-Kate Hutchinson was one of 23 rowers named to the watch list while sophomore Acorn Cassidy was named one of the nine honorable mentions. The list recognizes the top student-athletes in collegiate rowing heading into the spring season.
A 2025 All-ACC First Team selection, Hutchinson has been instrumental in one of the most successful stretches in program history. She helped Syracuse capture its first-ever ACC Championship in 2024, including a championship record time of 6:09.814 in the varsity eight.
Hutchinson competed in the varsity eight at the 2024 NCAA Championship, where Syracuse finished eighth overall, matching the second-best finish in program history. She most recently helped the Orange to a 13th-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Championship. She was also named the ACC Newcomer of the Year in 2023.
Cassidy was in the Orange's varsity eight crew throughout the 2024-25 season, primarily competing in the four-seat. She helped the Orange to a fourth-place finish in the grand final at the ACC Championship with a time of 6:13.804 and competed alongside Hutchinson at the NCAA Championship.
Syracuse's spring season is set to get underway in just over a month when the Orange head to the Doc Hosea Invitational on March 28th.
