From the Start
- Second Season season is here for Syracuse field hockey as the Orange gear up for the 2026 ACC Field Hockey Tournament, hosted this week at the University of North Carolina's Karen Shelton Stadium.
- All seven games of the ACC Tournament will be carried on the ACC Network with Leah Secondo and Suzanne Bush on the call. Each game at Karen Shelton Stadium will be free of charge to attend.
- The Orange draw a familiar foe in Louisville, though this is the first time since 2019 the 'Cuse and the Card clash in the ACC Tournament. Syracuse will be looking to get back on th correct side of the series; despite leading the series 16-10 thansk to a 4-2 win at Coyne in early October, Syracuse is 0-2 against Louisville in the ACC Tournament.
- Syracuse is also looking to bounce back from a setback last week against Boston College, dropping a 3-1 decision in the home finale. Sophomore Fieve Frenken scored her first college goal on a reverse thanks to a Sammie Goin feed from the circle edge.
- The Cardinals also dropped their regular season finale, surrendering four goals in the second half after a tie 1-1 game at the break.
- Syracuse won the first matchup this season 4-2 at J.S. Coyne Stadium with four different Orange - Aubrey Turner, Bo Madden, Jess Liddell, and Jovie Weaver - all contributing. Jessie Eiselin went the distance in goal making two saves.
- Tuesday's tilt will be the 27th meeting all-time between Syracuse and the Cardinals. As mentioned above, the Orange lead the series 16-10, winning four of the last five showdowns.Â
- Farquhar is in the later stages of her fourth regular season at the helm of the program, looking to add to her 44 wins in her time at Syracuse. The Orange reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for a second time in those first three years last year, knocking out Liberty in strokes.
With a Win Tueday Syracuse Would...
- Advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals for a third-straight season, equaling the longest run of semifinal appearances for Syracuse at the ACC Tournament.
- Be Syracuse's 10th win at the ACC Tournament.
- See Lynn Farquhar win her third game at the ACC Tournament.
- Beat Louisville in the ACC Tournament for the first time (currently 0-2).
- Be the 47th win in Lynn Farquhar's head coaching career at Syracuse and her 154th overall win as a head coach, including 107 at Saint Joseph's.
Strike Fast, Strike Late
- Coming out of the gates and doing just fine seems to be a theme for the Orange this season.
- Fifteen times this season Syracuse has scored in the first five minutes of a quarter, including three times in eight quarters across the Stanford and Cal games. Aubrey Turner was responsible for two of those, once against each team with Hattie Madden getting the first of the weekend in the 17th minute against Stanford.
- Arguably, scoring late and sealing periods is more important and the Orange have done that 14 times this season.
- Against Louisville, Jess Liddell struck with 15 seconds left in the third quarter on a penalty corner before Jovie Weaver iced the game with an empty net goal with 2 minutes and 21 seconds left.
- While the Orange have surrendered 12 goals in the first five minutes of a quarter, Syracuse has allowed just nine goals in the final five minutes of a quarter this year. Wake Forest is the only team to do so twice in the same game. Stanford and Cal each did it once two weeks ago while Boston College could not manage the feat.
