OPENING DRIVE
• The Orange finish up their three-game road stretch against Virginia on Saturday, October 10 at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.
• Jorge Sedano (play-by-play), Dave Clawson (analyst) and Madison Hock (reporter) will be on the call for the conference matchup, set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff airing on ACC Network.
ODOM'S RECORD SETTING DAY
• QB Amari Odom got the nod from head coach Fran Brown, making his first start for a Power-Four team.
• In his first start at the Power-Four level, Odom threw for 335 yards and five touchdowns. The five touchdown passes tied the program record for single-game passing touchdowns.
• Odom completed six passes of 25 yards or more in the win, including three for touchdowns.Â
• Four of his five passing touchdowns came from at least 17-yards out.
• Odom ran one in with his legs, giving him six total touchdowns on the day, becoming just the fifth player in program history to account for six touchdowns in a single game.
NICE CATCH, HATCH
• WR Umari Hatcher set career highs in receiving yards (152), receptions (12) and touchdowns (3) in the win over UConn.
• All three of Hatcher's TDs were 17 yards or longer, including 41-yard and 40-yard touchdowns in the first half. The 17-yard touchdown in overtime set up the eventual game-winning two-point conversion.
• Hatcher is averaging 118.3 all-purpose yards per game, the 24th-best mark in the nation.
• His 108.5 receiving yards per game is the 10th most in the country, third in the ACC and five receiving TDs is 11th in the nation and tied for the most among players who have played four games.
DOWN HILL
• RB Tylik Hill ran for 140 yards on 28 carries against UConn, both career highs for the sophomore.
• It was the first career 100-yard performance of his career and the second by a Syracuse player this season, joining Shavane Anderson Jr.'s performance against New Hampshire.
• It was most rushing yards in a game by an SU player since LeQuint Allen ran for 144 yards in 2023.
• Hill is averaging 6.24 yards per carry this season (46 atts, 288 yards), the 20th best mark in the nation and second-best in the ACC.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
• Syracuse has seen 90 different players appear in games this season, with 47 of them, more than half, being freshmen or sophomores.
• Of the 47 underclassmen who have appeared, 12 have logged starts. RB Shavane Anderson Jr., P Jimmy Gregg and PK Shay Barker are the lone true freshmen to draw a start while sophomores TE Daunte Bacheyie, WR Darius Johnson, RB Tylik Hill, OL Jayden Mann, OL Kahlil Stewart, OL Byron Washington, DB Demetres Samuel Jr., LB Antoine Deslauriers and DL Nissi Ogbebor have appeared in the opening personnel packages.
• Underclassmen have accounted for seven of the 17 offensive touchdowns (41.2%), 499 of 666 rushing yards (74.9%) and 1,025 of 2,175 all-purpose yards (47.1%).
• Defensively, underclassmen are accounting for 77 of 264 total tackles (29.2%), led by a combined 56 from Deslauriers, Ogbebor and Samuel Jr.
ALMOST HOME
• The Orange are at the tail end of a 35-day stretch away from home. Since last playing at home on Sept. 12, the Orange traveled to Pittsburgh, had its bye week and traveled to UConn. The road test with Virginia closes out the extended period away from the Loud House.
• The stretch is among the longest in the nation away from home this season. Eastern Michigan will have a 38-day span where they do not play in their home venue, but will play a game at Ford Field in Detroit as the designated home team. Stanford is the only Power Four team with a longer stretch away from home, with a 36-day stretch away from home (Oct. 23-Nov. 21).
• The stretch of 35 days away from home is the longest since 2024 when the Orange spent the month of October on the road with a bye during the span. The Orange went 2-1 with wins over UNLV and NC State with the lone loss coming against Pitt. The stretch was also 35-days long.
SERIES HISTORY
• Syracuse and Virginia clash for the seventh time in history on Saturday. The series is tied at three wins apiece.
• This is just the third time the two programs have met as ACC foes.
• SU head coach Fran Brown will take on Virginia for the first time in his head coaching career. Virginia's Tony Elliott faced Syracuse in his first year as a head coach in 2022, falling to the Orange, 22-20.
A WIN WOULD …Â
• Give the Orange a 4-3 edge in the all-time series between Virginia and Syracuse.
• Extend Syracuse's winning-streak against Virginia to two games.
• Give the Orange its second straight road win.
• Give Syracuse its 759th all-time victory (includes 11 wins from 2004-06 that were vacated by the NCAA). The Orange currently rank 22nd on the FBS ledger of winningest programs. Syracuse is one of 37 FBS schools to have accumulated 700+ wins.
