Quarterback Amari Odom was named one of the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 for his week five performance against UConn.
Odom, making his first start at Syracuse, completed 27-of-37 passes for 335 yards and five touchdowns in the overtime win at UConn. His five touchdown passes ties the program record for most in a single game. He also rushed for one more, which gave him six touchdowns responsible for. The six TDR trails just Zack Mahoney (7 – at Pitt, 2016) for second-most in program history, where he's tied with Jim Brown (vs. Colgate, 1956), Eric Dungey (at Boston College, 2018) and Steve Angeli (vs. Colgate, 2025).
Odom's selection for the Davey O'Brien Award's weekly honor also automatically moves him to the watch list for the award, which has been presented annually to the nation's top quarterback since 1981.
Odom and the Orange continue their stretch of road games Saturday at Virginia in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on ACCN. The team then makes their long-awaited return to the Loud House on Oct. 17, hosting Louisville. Tickets are available at Cuse.com/FootballTickets.
