
Van Kempen Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After a record-setting weekend, Syracuse University field hockey standout Bo van Kempen was selected as the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced its weekly awards Tuesday afternoon.
Van Kempen produced 19 points during the opening weekend, scoring nine times with one assist. In the 2025 season opener the Zevenaar, Netherlands native put up record numbers against Lock Haven, scoring six times with one assist for 13 points. Her six goals and 13 points are a program record for a single game. Two days later against defending NEC champion Fairfield, van Kempen scored three more times for a nine-goal weekend.
The second-year graduate student scored on 60 percent of her total shots, putting 12 of her 15 chances on goal. Van Kempen went 2-for-2 on penalty strokes over the weekend, improving to 4-for-4 on her Syracuse career. She was credited with the game-winning goal against Lock Haven on Friday after scoring just 20 seconds into the match.
Virginia's Lauren Sloan was named ACC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
Eleventh-ranked Syracuse heads for Columbus, Ohio this weekend for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Orange open the weekend at Buckeye Varsity Field on Friday with a 1 p.m. clash against No. 16 Rutgers. On Sunday, Syracuse turns its attention to No. 13 Ohio State for a 2 p.m. game.
