How it Happened
- The opening quarter was a feeling out period, as the Tigers registered the lone shot of the period but the chance went wide.
- Syracuse applied the pressure in the second quarter, putting up three attempts but could not get any chances on target. Orange netminder Jesse Eiselin was not charged to make a save in the first 30 minutes of the game.
- Both teams combined for four penalty corners in the first half, each side picking up two attempts.
- Aubrey Turner drove through the Tiger defense and took a shot that went wide of the goal. Princeton countered 90 seconds later but it too went wide.
- It wasn't until the 44th minute that any player got a shot on goal as Princeton's Lilly Wojcik aimed a chance goalward but Tane King was equal to the attempt.
- The same pair combined for the next shot on goal and once again Tane kept the sheet clean. Princeton had a last gasp corner in the 57th minute but Caitlin Thompson's tip fell wide of the goal for a 0-0 game after 60 minutes.
- Princeton held possession early in the half of overtime before Bigbie controlled the ball inside the 25 yard line and drove towards the scoring area. Her defender was called for a foul that was just inside the circle. A review upgraded it to a penalty stroke to set up van Kempen's third game-winner of the season.
- The fifth-ranked Orange continue on the road as they wrap up a four-game road swing in the early portion of the schedule.
- Syracuse heads for Rappolt Field for a noon clash against Lafayette (3-2). Sunday's showdown will be carried on ESPN+.
