How it Happened
- The Orange attacking penalty corner unit wasted little time getting going in the game as Syracuse earned the corner in the fifth minute. The battery of Strunk to Stange to van Kempen connected for a fifth time in the first three games of the season.
- Over the next six minutes, Syracuse uncorked four more shots but two were stopped by Rutgers' netminder Emily Nicholls with another two blocked down by defenders.
- Opening the second period, Turner was efficient after receiving a transition pass from Bo Madden down the left side. After juking past one defender on the baseline, Turner went untouched to the heart of the Scarlet Knights' defense and beat Nicholls under her stick-side arm. The goal in the 18th minute proved to be the final tally not only of the half but of the game.
- Syracuse took three more shots in the first half but only one off the stick of Hattie Madden was on goal.
- Taylor Bigbie earned the lone Syracuse shot of the third quarter, taking an attempt wide in the 41st minute.
- Rutgers was granted its only corner of the game in the 54th minute but a flying Bigbie broke up the shot, which despite going off an arm, was deemed too high on the attempt.
- The Orange continue their stay in the heart of Ohio for a Sunday showdown against No. 13 Ohio State.
- Game time at Buckeye Varsity Field is slated for 2 p.m. with Sunday's contest carried on BTN+.
- Syracuse will look to exact revenge on Ohio State after suffering a loss at home last season.
