THE GAME
- Eight teams left as No. 5 Syracuse advances to the NCAA Division I Quarterfinals for a second-straight year and facing a longtime postseason rival in Princeton.
- The Orange and Tigers clash for the 11th time in the NCAA Tournament, second most postseason meetings for a Syracuse opponent, trailing only Johns Hopkins (13).
- Syracuse is coming off a overtime thriller in a rematch against Harvard, improving the Orange to 3-0 in rematches this season. Owen Hiltz provided the overtime heroics, cutting past his defender to receive a pass from Joey Spallina. Syracuse trailed by as many as six, authoring the second-largest postseason comeback since 1980.
- The Orange finished 2025 with a stout 8-2 record at the JMA Dome and carry a 2-1 neutral site record back to Long Island.
- The 13-3 Tigers put its offense on display, running past Towson 22-12 last weekend at home. Nate Kabiri and Tucker Wade put up seven points each, with both scoring five times with two assists
- Princeton is 1-0 in neutral site games this year, getting past fourth-seeded Yale in the Ivy League Tournament hosted by Cornell in Ithaca. All told, the Tigers are 6-2 away from Class of 1952 Stadium this season.
- ESPNU will carry Saturday's 2:30 p.m. game from James M. Shuart Stadium on the campus of Hofstra University. Chris Cotter and Syracuse All-American midfielder Paul Carcaterra '97 will have the call from the booth with Morgan Uber reporting from the sidelines on Saturday.
- Tim Leonard '20 (play-by-play) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) take to the airwaves on Syracuse Sports Network and TK99/105 locally, Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and TuneIn App, as well as Syracuse University student-radio station WAER.
BACK TO THE ISLAND
- Saturday will be Syracuse's second trip to Long Island and the greater Hempstead area this year. The Orange clashed with Cornell on April 12 on the other side of the Nassau County Veterans Memorial Stadium parking lot from Shuart Stadium.
- Twelve players on the roster call Long Island home: Jake Spallina, Vincent Bolognino, Michael Leo, Matt McIntee, Tyler McCarthy, Joey Spallina, Nick Caccamo, Tyler Cordes, Jack Fine, Dylan Sageder, Brett Spallina, and Michael Ippoliti
- Since taking over as head coach of the men's lacrosse team at Syracuse, head coach Gary Gait has guided the Orange to a 2-1 record in games on Long Island, beating Stony Brook 14-9 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in March 2022 and besting Hofstra 16-8 at the site of Saturday's showdown. Syracuse fell to top-ranked Cornell earlier this year.
KEEPING IT 100
- In the first round, the Orange join rarefied air, becoming just the third team to play in its 100th NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Tournament game.

- Only Maryland (116) and Johns Hopkins (113) have played in more games. Maryland will add at least one more with its game on Sunday afternoon as well.
- Virginia is knocking on the door of 100, currently sitting at 97.
THE PRINCETON SERIES
- The second-most played postseason series for the Orange, Syracuse tussles with the Tigers for an 11th time in the NCAA Tournament.

- The Orange have won five straight over the Tigers, including a 16-13 win in New Jersey during the 2023 season. The 'Cuse is 8-2 over the last 10 meetings.
- Syracuse and Princeton meet in the postseason for the first time since the 2003 season, a 15-5 Orange victory in the Dome for the Quarterfinal round. The Orange are 2-0 in the postseason against Princeton when the game is played in the Empire State.
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD...
- Advance Syracuse to the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Semifinals for the first time since 2013, ending a 10-season drought (excluding 2020).
- Push the Orange record to 13-5, the first 13-win season since going 13-3 in 2017.
