THE GAME
- On the road for the first time in 2025 and it's a stiff test for the No. 2 Orange as Syracuse heads for College Park, Maryland to take on the sixth-ranked Terrapins of Maryland.
- The two historic programs meet for a fourth-straight regular season while the Orange look for their first win over the Terps since the 2009 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
- Saturday's showdown is the second of five straight for Syracuse against teams mentioned in the USILA Coaches Poll. The Orange are coming off an 18-7 win over No. 17 Towson Monday night as Syracuse plays for the third time in eight days and fourth time in the first three weeks of the season.
- Maryland (2-0) is coming off a tough local test, an 8-7 overtime win at Ridley Athletic Complex against Loyola Maryland last Saturday. The Terps bested No. 18 Richmond 12-7 in their season opener.
- Syracuse's versatile offense, which features seven players with at least five points already this season, is paced by Joey Spallina (10g, 11a) and Owen Hiltz (7g, 8a) on attack with Michael Leo (7g, 2a) and Luke Rhoa (8g) leading through the midfield.
- Saturday's game is slated for a 2 p.m. start on BTN+ from SECU Stadium in College Park, Maryland.
- Jack Gordon '23 (play-by-play) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) take to the airwaves on Syracuse Sports Network and TK99/105 locally, Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and TuneIn App, as well as Syracuse University student-radio station WAER.
THE MARYLAND SERIES
- Two of the winningest programs in NCAA history meet on Saturday for the 21st time since 1927 and for a fourth-straight season.
- Syracuse has won six of the previous 20 meetings but have dropped the last six decisions against the Terps.
- The Orange are seeking their first win in College Park against Maryland since a 13-9 win for the 1995 NCAA Division I title. Â Syracuse has not beaten the Terps since an 11-6 win during the 2009 NCAA Division I Quarterfinals in Hempstead, New York.
- Last season's meeting at the Dome was an instant classic overtime thriller. After a Syracuse goal was waved off due to a goal mouth violation, the Terps won 13-12 in overtime. The last time these teams met in College Park, the homeside won 15-12 in a game that was the first road trip for the current junior class.
 - The current run of four-straight regular season meetings is the longest run of non-postseason meetings between the two programs in series history.
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD...
- Improve Syracuse to 4-0 this season, the best start since opening 2020 with a 5-0 record.
- Snap a six-game skid against Maryland.
- Be the first win in College Park against Maryland since 1995 (0-2 since).
- Be the 952nd win in program history, second-most among Division I programs.
- Be the fifth top-10 win for Syracuse under head coach Gary Gait (Since 2022).Â
- Mark a second-straight top-20 win for the Orange, the first back-to-back ranked wins since beating No. 4 Johns Hopkins, No. 20 Delaware, and No. 3 Duke in a row last March.

- Syracuse has controlled the clock this year in a major way. The longest has taken the Orange to score first was 2 minutes and 3 seconds against Vermont.
- The Orange have never trailed this season and have lead for a combined 174.5 minutes this year.
- Towson has been the closest team to tying the game, cutting the Syracuse lead to 2-1 early in the first quarter before back-to-back Syracuse goals made it 4-1.
- The Orange have also prevented opponent runs - Syracuse has allowed just one opponent scoring run of three goals late in the Vermont game. Only one other time this season has an opponent scored back-to-back.
- Per Lacrosse Reference, Syracuse averages 31:28 in time of possession this year with a national-best +25 in possessions this year.
