2/11/2025 12:33:00 PM | Cross Country
Thirteen Syracuse cross country runners earned All-ACC Academic honors this fall, for standout performances in the classroom and in competition.
Ten Orange women earned the distinction, including Selma Anderson (biology), Baneet Bains (public relations), Heidi Demeo (human development and family sciences), Emma Eastman (exercise science), Beatriz Fernandes (bioengineering), Jayden Harberts (psychology), Madeline Heintz (social work/psychology), Olivia Joly (biotechnology), Sarah Lawson (environmental engineering) and Rylie Lusk (marriage and family therapy). Alex Comerford (information systems), Ruben Rojas Betanzos (Bioengineering) and Ethal Wechsler (Public Administration) were honored from the men's team.
The 10 women's honorees was second in the conference.
In order to be named to the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must maintain above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, have a 3.0 or better GPA in the most recent semester (Fall 2024) and have competed in the ACC and/or NCAA Championship.
The Orange cross country teams saw both programs finish in the top-20 at the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2015 in November. The men earned an 11th-place finish and the women took 20th.
The ACC Honor Roll, which honors student-athletes who are above a 3.0 GPA regardless of competition, will be released this summer.
