SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 1 Syracuse welcomes Binghamton to the SU Soccer Stadium on Monday, Aug. 28. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission to the match is free.

'Cuse Update
Syracuse opened the 2023 campaign with a 2-0 victory against former Big East rival Providence. The Orange out-shot the Friars, 13-4, including 7-0 in the first half. The win extends SU's unbeaten streak to 15 matches dating back to last season.

Senior Lorenzo Boselli continued his offensive production from preseason play, scoring both goals in the match for 'Cuse. Boselli found the back of the net in the sixth and 13th minutes of the contest on Thursday.

Junior goalkeeper Jason Smith recorded his first victory in a Syracuse kit, making a pair of saves in his eighth career clean sheet.

Two for 10
After scoring a hat trick in the preseason opener, Boselli began the regular season by heading a pair of goals into the back of the net. Boselli became the first Orange player to record a multi-goal game since Nathan Opoku scored twice on Oct. 10, 2022, in Syracuse's 6-1 win against Loyola Maryland. Opoku scored in the fifth and 77th minutes of the match.

Scouting the Bearcats
Head coach Paul Marco is in his 22nd year of overseeing the Binghamton men's soccer program. The Bearcats opened the 2023 season with a 2-1 loss at William & Mary on Aug. 24. Mael Lopes scored the lone goal for Binghamton in the setback. Paul Marco's 2022 squad finished the campaign with a 6-9-4 record, losing to No. 22 New Hampshire, 3-0, in the America East Semifinals.

Series History
Monday's contest will mark the 14th all-time meeting between Syracuse and Binghamton and first since the 2021 season. The Orange hold an 8-5-0 advantage in the series, including six straight wins dating back to 2012. The Bearcats have traveled up I-81 in the three previous matches, where 'Cuse earned a pair of 3-1 victories and most recently, a 7-0 win on Sept. 14, 2021.

Syracuse will play on the road for the first time in 2023 when it travels to Central Pennsylvania for a match against Penn State at Jeffrey Stadium on Friday. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m. with the match being broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
