CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 18 Syracuse returns to the Tar Heel State for the third and final time during the 2023 regular season when it faces North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 6. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. (ACC Network).
Friday will mark the second straight week the Orange have appeared on ACC Network and fourth time this season.Â
The top-20 matchup is Syracuse's fourth of the campaign.

'Cuse Update
The Orange beat Colgate, 1-0, Tuesday night at home in the team's fourth clean sheet of the campaign.

For the second straight game, sophomore Nicholas Kaloukian opened the scoring. The sophomore scored at the 12:26 mark in the first half, tipping a Michael Suski pass past Colgate keeper, Andrew Cooke.

Kaloukian extended his point streak for five matches (three goals and two assists).

'Cuse outshot Colgate, 13-5, and had more corner kicks, 7-2.

Sophomore Jahiem Wickham turned aside two shots on target in the win, his second shutout in as many starts this year.

Scouting the Tar Heels
Carlos Somoano is in his 13th season leading the North Carolina men's soccer program. The Tar Heels are 5-0-4 this season and hold a 3-0-2 record at home. North Carolina has earned at least one point in its first four conference matches, posting a 1-0-3 record.

Quenzi Huerman leads the Tar Heel squad with seven goals and 17 points while Martin Vician has four goals and two assists for 10 points. The duo has combined for 11 of North Carolina's 16 goals in 2023.

The Tar Heels have used three goalkeepers this season. Quinn Closson, Andrew Cordes and Collin Travasos have all started three matches. Cordes leads the group with a .923 save percentage and 0.27 goals against average in 338:32 minutes.

Friday's contest will be the 12th all-time meeting between Syracuse and North Carolina and seventh in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels lead the series, 5-2-4. Four of the matches have come in postseason play, including three in the ACC Tournament. In 2022, Levonte Johnson's goal at 85:06 helped the Orange advance to the ACC Semifinal for the first time since 2015 en route to the team's treble.
