
No. 22 Syracuse Draws With NC State

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â Syracuse split points with NC State on Sunday as the teams played to a 1-1 draw at the SU Soccer Stadium.

After playing a scoreless opening 45 minutes, both team's goals came in the second half of play.

The Orange outshot the Wolfpack, 18-2, and had more corners, 11-2.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
'Cuse controlled the tempo during the first half, outshooting NC State, 7-0, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Â
The Wolfpack were able to get on the board at 50:23 following an Orange turnover. Hakim Karamoko dribbled down the left side of the box and placed the ball in the lower right corner, past the diving Jahiem Wickham.

Syracuse did not fold, continuing to put offensive pressure on NC State. The Orange registered 11 second-half shots and 10 corner kicks.

'Cuse was able to level the match at one at 76:33 following a Wolfpack own goal. Senior Lorenzo Boselli put a quick shot on net that was stopped by NC State goalkeeper, Samuel Terranova, but the rebound bounced off a defender back into the net.

The Orange continued its offensive attack following the own goal, earning six corners and six shots, but were unable to get the go-ahead tally.

- This was 'Cuse's first own goal in 2023, the team had two last season.
- Boselli recorded five shot attempts with four going on goal, both season highs for the senior.
- Boselli now leads the team with 38 shot attempts and 14 shots on target.
- Sunday marked the seventh match where Syracuse has had at least 10 corners.
- The team's 18 shot attempts were the third-most in a contest this year.
