It's going to be an exciting day at the Carrier Dome on Saturday. The Syracuse football team (0-2) hosts the Stony Brook (2-0) at 4 p.m. (TWCS/SNY). Free admission will be offered for all youth, age 12 and under, sponsored by Time Warner Cable. Limited edition New York's College Team bracelets will be handed out to the first 10,000 fans in attendance at the Dome and the first 2,000 students will receive limited edition Otto sunglasses.

At halftime, the Orange Olympians will be honored. Men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim, and Orange rowers Natalie Mastracci and Mike Gennaro will be recognized. Coach Boeheim helped coach the USA basketball team to a gold medal this summer, while Mastracci won a silver medal with Team Canada.

Success against the FCS
This is the first meeting between the Orange and the Seawolves. Stony Brook is ranked 16th/17th in the FCS polls this week and they visit Carrier Dome after recording wins against Central Connecticut State and Pace.

The Orange have not lost a game to an FCS team since Oct. 4, 1958 at Holy Cross, 14-13. SU has won its last 28 games against current members of FCS. The winning streak includes a perfect 9-0 mark against FCS opponents in the Carrier Dome. The Orange most recently defeated Rhode Island in 2011 at the Carrier Dome, 21-14.

Lighting it Up
The Orange leads the BIG EAST in scoring offense (35.0 ypg), passing offense (402.0 ypg), total offense (525.5 ypg) and first downs (30.0 per game). Nationally, SU is third in the NCAA passing offense, tied for eight in first downs and ranks 20th in total offense. The only two teams with more productive passing attacks than SU are Marshall (429.0 ypg) and Louisiana-Monroe (412.0 ypg). It should be noted that Louisiana-Monroe has only played once thus far in 2012.

Nassib Among National Leaders
Senior quarterback Ryan Nassib ranks in the top three nationally in the following categories: completions per game (37.5, 2nd), passing yards (804, 2nd), passing yards per game (402.0, 3rd) and total offense (418.0 ypg, t-2nd). Nassib is also the Orange career leader in completions (572) and ranks second in touchdown passes (50) behind Donovan McNabb's 77.

Those numbers place him among the NCAA active leaders in those categories. He currently ranks 12th in completions and is tied for seventh in passing touchdown leaders.

Orange Swarm
The Orange defense boasts 15 players with at least six tackles so far this season. Linebacker Marquis Spruill and corner Ri'Shard Anderson lead the way with 13 tackles each. Linebacker Siriki Diabate has recorded 12 tackles so far while safety Durell Eskridge has 10 stops.

Picking Barkley a Rarity
Safety Shamarko Thomas' notched his first career interception against USC in New York's College Classic. Thomas intercepted USC Heisman candidate Matt Barkley in the third quarter to set up an Orange touchdown. The pick was just the eight thrown by Barkley in 514 attempts since the start of 2011. Thomas' pick was the first of the 2012 season for SU.

Krautman Fourth Nationally in Active Field Goal Percentage
Junior Ross Krautman leads the BIG EAST and ranks fourth among FBS placekickers in career field-goal percentage. Krautman has made 36 of his 42 career attempts (.857). He was 18-for- 19 (.947) as a freshman in 2010. Tying Gary Anderson's single-season school record for makes and Anderson's Orange record for consecutive field goals made (16). In 2011, Krautman went 15-for-19 (.765). Of his four misses last year, two were blocked. Krautman is 3-for-four (.750) thus far in 2012.
