Eight Different Orange Find the Net
Syracuse (4-1) wrapped a five-game, season-opening trip that carried the Orange through Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and central Pennsylvania before the team finally heads home this week. Hattie Madden paced the offense with a hat trick and an assist, while Jovie Weaver, Ellis Cannon, Taylor Bigbie, Catalina Pravda, Aubrey Turner, Sammie Goin and Ally Snyder each added a goal.
Cannon and Pravda scored the first goals of their careers, Goin converted a penalty stroke, and Snyder found the net for the first time this season. Turner, Goin and Madden handled the assists. Tane King went the distance in goal, turning aside the only shot she faced to preserve the shutout, the first of her career.
Bucknell (4-1) entered unbeaten after its best start since 1984 but was held off the board. Sarah Althouse made eight saves across 49:06 before Abby Zanelli stopped two more in 10:54 of relief. Julia Corropolese added a defensive save for the Bison.
