Weaver Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two games in, two game-winning goals as Syracuse University freshman forward Jovie Weaver was selected as an ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced its first weekly award winners Tuesday afternoon.
Weaver was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week alongside Liz Klompmaker (California) with Louisville's Emily Young earning Defensive Player of the Week.
Earning her first career Player of the Week honors, Weaver was selected after scoring two goals in her opening weekend of collegiate play with a pair of goals. In Friday's opener at Fairfield, Weaver potted what stood as the game-winning goal in the 25th minute, scoring a rebounded ball. On Sunday, the Palmyra, Pennsylvania native again helped the Orange rally back, depositing the winner in the 42nd minute with another loose ball in front of the Huskies' goal.
No. 12 Syracuse heads to New Jersey this weekend for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Orange open their second year at the Challenge on Friday with a 3 p.m. clash with Ohio State before a Sunday game against host Rutgers at 2 p.m. Both games will be played at the Bauer Complex and carried live on BTN+.
