Four from the Syracuse women's lacrosse program were named Nike Midseason All-Americans, Inside Lacrosse announced on Tuesday afternoon. Izzy Lahah was named a Second Team honoree while Molly Guzik, Coco Vandiver and Daniella Guyette landed on the third team.
Lahah headlines the group as a Second Team selection. The junior has emerged as one of the nation's top defenders, averaging 2.83 caused turnovers per game which ranks in the top-10 of all players nationally. She has racked up 35 caused turnovers and 34 ground balls this season, all while having played some of the toughest competition in the nation.
Guzik lands on the third team during a breakout season where she has tallied 33 goals and 10 assists for 43 points. She has scored in all 13 games this year and tallied three or more goals five times. She had a career-high six goals in a 9-6 win over then-ranked No. 4 Northwestern, which earned her USA Lacrosse Magazine's Division I Player of the Week honors.
Vandiver joins Lahah as representatives from the defensive unit, having caused 32 turnovers and nabbing 23 ground balls. Vandiver etched her name in the Syracuse record books, becoming the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers earlier this season when she reached 102 in her career. Alongside Lahah and the rest of the unit, the Orange have held teams to an average of 7.1 goals per game, good for the third best in the nation.
Guyette rounds out the honorees in a season where she has logged 77 saves with a .475 save percentage. Her goal against average of 6.88 is the second-best in the nation, while having played some of the nation's top competition. She won ACC Defensive Player of the Week in March when she posted 15 saves and a .667 save percentage in wins over Yale and Virginia.
The Orange continue their spring with another road test this weekend, set to take on No. 17 Duke at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. The Orange will return home for Senior Day on Saturday, April 11 when they take on No. 14 Notre Dame at the JMA Wireless Dome. For tickets, visit cuse.com/tickets.
