Bryan, Campbell-Reide Named IRCA Athletes to Watch

On Tuesday morning, two Syracuse oarsmen were named to the 2026 IRCA Athlete watchlist. Senior Benjamin Campbell-Reide and sophomore Nick Bryan were two of 42 rowers recognized on the IRCA's D1/D2 Heavyweight Men's Rowing Watchlist.Â
Campbell-Reide has been a dominant figure on the men's rowing team in his past four years at Syracuse, playing a pivotal role in the Orange's program best finish at the 2025 IRA Championships, earning sixth place as a team. Campbell-Reide most recently broke Syracuse's program indoor 2k record earlier this month, pulling a time of 5:46.7.
Campbell-Reide was named the Jack R. Robinson Inspiration Award winner last spring by the IRCA and also collected IRCA Scholar Athlete honors. He raced in both the first and second varsity eight for the Orange in the 2025 spring season and earned Syracuse Athletics 2025 Syracuse 8 Courage Award at the annual 'Cuse Awards.
Bryan earned this honor in his second year with the Orange. In his rookie season, he primarily raced in the team's V8 and 2V8 crews, and helped the 2V8 to the Grand Final at the 2025 IRA Championships, tying the boat's best finish in the past 20 years.
Bryan enters his sophomore year following an exceptional performance at the 2025 U23 World Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland over the summer. Representing his native country of New Zealand, Bryan sat four-seat of the men's eight that won bronze.
Syracuse's spring season starts at the Princeton Invite in Princeton, N.J., on April 11.Â
