Bryan, Strauss Set to Represent New Zealand and Austria at U23 World Rowing Championships

A pair of Syracuse rowers will be competing on the international stage this week, as Nick Bryan and Niki Strauss head to Duisburg, Germany, for the U23 World Rowing Championships, running July 23-26.
Bryan will row in the 4-seat of New Zealand's Men's Eight, one of nine crews entered in the event. The upcoming regatta marks Bryan's third career world championship appearance, having previously competed at the 2022 World Rowing U19 Championships before returning to the U23 level last summer, where New Zealand's eight claimed the silver medal.
Strauss will represent Austria in the Men's Single Sculls, an event that has drawn 25 entries this year. Duisburg will be Strauss's fifth world championship appearance, a run that includes back-to-back trips to the U19 Championships in 2022 and 2023, followed by consecutive U23 Championships appearances in 2024 and 2025.
Both oarsmen raced in Sryacuse's varsity eight this past spring, that earned 10th at the 2026 IRA National Championship in June.Â
Racing at the U23 World Rowing Championships begins Thursday, July 23, and runs through Sunday, July 26, in Duisburg.
