Syracuse women's basketball (20-5, 10-4 ACC) returns to the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday afternoon to host Clemson (18-8, 9-5 ACC) at 2 p.m. ET on ACCNX. The Orange are looking to build on their dominant 84-51 road victory over Pittsburgh and secure their 21st win of the season. The game will be streamed live on ACCNX with Kyra Wood '25 and Joseph Duffey on the call. Tickets are available to purchase online at cuse.com/basketballtickets.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear pink for the annual breast cancer awareness game. This year, the Orange will celebrate the life and legacy of Tiana Mangakahia '20, a former Orange all-American point guard who passed away last September after a courageous battle with breast cancer at the age of 30. There will be a pink rally towel giveaway and fans are encouraged to stop by the marketing table to fill out an "I play for" sign to be held up during the game.Â
Head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's squad has been one of the ACC's biggest surprises this season, sitting fifth in the conference standings after being picked 13th in the preseason poll. Syracuse holds a commanding 13-2 all-time advantage over Clemson and has won all three meetings during the Legette-Jack era, including last season's 67-55 road victory.
The Orange are led by a dynamic trio of scorers. Freshman sensation Uche Izoje continues her ACC Rookie of the Year campaign, averaging 14.4 points and a team-leading 9.2 rebounds while ranking fourth nationally with 2.7 blocks per game. The six-time ACC Rookie of the Week has compiled an impressive 10 double-doubles this season, showcasing her dominance in the paint. Senior guard Laila Phelia has been Syracuse's most consistent offensive weapon, averaging 13.5 points per game while shooting an efficient 40.6% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range. Graduate student Dominique Darius adds 13.2 points and a team-high 3.7 assists, providing veteran leadership and playmaking ability.
Syracuse's strength lies in its rebounding prowess, leading the ACC with 17.2 offensive boards per game (sixth nationally) and ranking third in the conference with 42.5 total rebounds per contest. The Orange also lead the ACC in turnovers forced at 20.1 per game, showcasing their defensive intensity.
Clemson is coming off a double overtime home win against Georgia Tech Thursday night and has won seven of its last 10 games while the Tigers look to make a late push for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.Â
A victory would improve Syracuse to 21-5 overall and 11-4 in ACC play while strengthening their NCAA Tournament resume as they currently sit as a projected 9-seed in ESPN's latest bracketology.
