Orange Ranked 6th in Week Three Polls
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Another top-10 clash is assured at J.S. Coyne Stadium this weekend as Syracuse University field hockey slots at number six in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its week three poll Tuesday morning.
Syracuse (6-2, 0-2 ACC) grabbed 161 points, just five points outside the top five. The Orange slipped two spots after falling in two top 20 battles last week, once in overtime and once on a last-minute penalty stroke to No. 3 Virginia.
The sixth-ranked Orange take on No. 7 Duke Friday night on ACC Network with a 6 p.m. first push, marking a third-straight top 20 ACC game for Syracuse at Coyne Stadium.
Northwestern remained at number one with 217 points and eight of the 11 first-place votes. North Carolina had the remaining three top selections alongside 212 points. Virginia was third with 198 points, with Harvard (178) and Liberty (166) rounding out the top five.
Eight 2025 opponents were named in the top 25 this week: No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Virginia, No. 7 Duke, No. 8 Princeton, No. 13 Wake Forest, No. 16 Louisville, No. 19 Rutgers, No. 20 Penn State.
