Senior Shea Vanderbosch made a season-high 10 saves and Syracuse (3-1-2) held off Princeton (0-2-2) to earn a 0-0 draw in Princeton, N.J., on Sunday.
The result was the first scoreless tie for the Orange since a Sept. 10, 2023 match at Fairfield.
HOW THE MATCH WAS DECIDED:
The outcome was not determined until the final seconds of the match. Vanderbosch's goal kick and a subsequent header from the Syracuse midfield freed up senior Mia Klammer at the Princeton end. Tiger keeper Cecilia Cerone was able to challenge Klammer, whose attempt went over the goal as time expired.
FIRST-HALF CHANCES
Syracuse's Gabby Wisbeck, a sophomore and Klammer had Syracuse's top first-half tries.. Wisbeck tested Cerone just over three minutes into the match, redirecting a long throw in from Klammer.  Klammer gathered a loose ball and put her left-footed drive on the cage with less than eight minutes to go before the break.
Princeton, despite 17 first-half shot attempts, was unable to penetrate the Syracuse goal line. Vanderbosch stopped two point-blank attempts from Princeton's Barry Alexander -- the first a header and the second a shot Vanderbosch dove to extinguish. Vanderbosch made two more saves in the first half, both to her left on Dylan Jovanovic and Esme Rudell.
PLAY PICKS UP
The tempo of the game picked up after the break. Sophomore Vita Naihin came closest to ending the scoreless dual. After creating space, she struck with her left foot and the ball slammed into the cross bar and dropped before Cerone secured it, around the 76:45 mark.
Vanderbosch came up with six saves over the final 45 minutes, many of the acrobatic variety. She dove to her right to thwart Nina Cantor at 70:42. She stopped Cantor again 13 minutes later by leaping and punching the ball away with her right hand. Vanderbosch then preserved the shutout in the final four minutes. Cantor fed Kayla Wong in front but her attempt was halted with another diving stop by Vanderbosch.
VANDERBOSCH 300
Vanderbosch's first save of the morning, which came at 18:43 off a shot from Barry, was the 300th of her Syracuse career. After becoming the fourth Orange keeper to reach the milestone, Vanderbosch advanced into third place on the program's career save list. She finished the match with 309, and now trails only Courtney Brosnan (344) and Eliza Bennett-Hattan (331). Vanderbosch moved by Brittany Anghel (303).
