
Pair of Boats Advance to A/B Semis at NCAA Championship

WEST WINDSOR, New Jersey – Syracuse's second varsity eight and varsity four advanced to the A/B semifinals on the first day of the 2025 NCAA Women's Rowing Championship at Lake Mercer. The 'Cuse varsity eight will compete in the C/D semifinal on Saturday.
The Orange competed in the first heat of the varsity eight competition and crossed the finish line in 6:24.539. Stanford won the heat with the fastest time of the day at 6:11.533. Syracuse will race at 8:12 a.m. on Saturday against Fairfield, Dartmouth, Pennsylvania and Northeastern.
The second varsity eight finished third (6:23.170) behind Texas (6:17.257) and Yale (6:19.807) in its heat to advance to Saturday's A/B semifinal set to go off at 9:24 a.m. The Orange will race against California, Virginia, Texas, Stanford and Tennessee.
The third-seeded varsity four placed second in its heat with a time of 7:08.352. Rutgers came from behind to win the heat (7:08.169), while California was third (7:10.867). The Orange will race in the second A/B semifinal on Saturday at 10:24 a.m. against Tennessee, Princeton, Texas, Stanford and Harvard.
Syracuse is making its 12th NCAA Championship appearance and its fifth in a row, extending the program's best-ever streak. The Orange have now earned a spot in eight of the last nine NCAA Championships.
