Orange Season Ends in NCAA Second Round

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – Ashlee Volpe tied her career high with four goals in Syracuse's 9-8 loss to No. 7 seed and fifth-ranked Yale in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Orange end the season with a 10-9 record.

All of the Syracuse goals were scored by players in their first year playing college lacrosse. Volpe matched her four goals that she had at Yale during the regular season. Caroline Trinkaus scored a pair of goals, while Bri Peters had a goal and an assist.

On the defensive end, Danny Guyette made 11 saves, marking the eighth time this season that she has reached double figures in saves. Izzy Lahah had three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Yale (16-3) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Orange stormed back with five-straight goals, including four from Volpe, to take a 5-3 lead.

Syracuse led, 5-4, at halftime and back-to-back goals by Trinkaus and Peters pushed the lead to three. The Bulldogs started their comeback in the final minutes of the third quarter. Yale scored twice in the final 3:12 of the third and the first goal of the fourth tied the game at 7-7.

Trinkaus put the Orange back on top with a free position goal, but Jenna Collingnon scored back-to-back goals to give the Bulldogs the lead for 009-[ good.

Syracuse was making its 22nd appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange now have all-time record of 29-22 in tournament play.
