ORANGE UPDATE:
Syracuse defeated Le Moyne 6-0 in a matchup between Salt City schools on Wednesday, March 26, earning its 20th win of the season and completing a season sweep of the Dolphins. The Orange set the tone early with a three-run second inning and extended their lead with a two-run home run from Taylor Davison to secure the victory.
Before their midweek matchup against Le Moyne, Syracuse hosted a three-game series against Clemson from March 21-23 but faced challenges against the Tigers, dropping all three games. As the Tar Heels come to town this weekend, the Orange aim to return to the win column in ACC play, with their only conference victory so far coming on March 15 against Duke.
Through 31 games, Madelyn Lopez has paced the Orange offense, hitting .435 (40-for-92) with 20 runs, 18 RBIs, and two home runs. Tessa Galipeau (.373), Angie Ramos (.345), Gabby Lantier (.324), and Kelly Breen (.323) have also been key contributors, each maintaining a batting average above .300 this season.
In the circle, Julianna Verni and Madison Knight have shouldered the majority of Syracuse's pitching workload, accounting for 150.2 of the team's 203 innings. Verni posted a 2.28 ERA in 17 appearances, while Knight holds a 2.71 ERA across 15 outings. The duo has combined for 142 strikeouts, with Knight's 78 ranking fifth in the ACC.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS:
North Carolina enters the weekend with a 26-8 overall record and a 6-3 mark in ACC play. The Tar Heels are coming off a series win against Louisville, securing back-to-back five-inning victories, 13-5 and 14-3, to close out the three-game set.
North Carolina's offense has been productive this season, with Kat Rodriguez leading the team with a .461 batting average (47-for-102), 38 runs, and 52 RBIs. Lexie Roberts (.443), Sanaa Thompson (.408), and Grace Jackson (.408) have also been consistent at the plate, along with three other Tar Heels batting above .300.
North Carolina enters the series on a three-game winning streak but has faced challenges on the road, holding a 3-5 record away from home compared to a strong 20-3 mark in Chapel Hill.
