
Orange Drop Series Opener to Clemson

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse softball team (19-9, 1-6 ACC) fell to Clemson (22-9, 4-3 ACC), 8-1, in the series opener on Friday at Skytop Softball Stadium. The Orange's lone run came on an RBI single by Tessa Galipeau in the bottom of the sixth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning with a pair of RBI singles and a two-run double. Madison Knight settled in over the next two innings, but Clemson added to its advantage in the fifth with two home runs, making it a 7-0 game.

Clemson pushed the game toward a run-rule finish with a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth, but Tessa Galipeau kept Syracuse in the game with an RBI single in the bottom half, extending play to the seventh inning.

The Orange attempted a late rally in the bottom of the seventh, putting three runners on base, but ultimately fell, 8-1.

- Galipeau's one run batted in was her 14th of the season.
- Jadyn Burney, Angie Ramos, Kayla Sigala, Gabby Lantier, and Galipeau each collected a hit for the Orange.
- Burney, who leads the team in stolen bases, swiped her 10th bag of the season in the loss.
- The loss moves Syracuse to 1-10 all-time in the series against Clemson.
