SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A seven-goal fourth quarter propelled No. 2 Syracuse University men's lacrosse to a 18-7 win over No. 17 Towson University on Monday night inside the JMA Wireless Dome.
Syracuse (3-0) outscored the Tigers 13-3 in the opening and closing frames of the game, while keeping Towson scoreless for the final 19 minutes and 56 seconds of the contest. The Orange were paced in goals by Luke Rhoa with four tonight, while Owen Hiltz led the team with seven points (three goals and four assists). Rhoa was the third different Syracuse player in the opening three games this season to lead the team in goals, while Hiltz set a season-high in points, assists, and goals. Michael Leo (3), Finn Thomson (3), Joey Spallina (2), Jackson Birtwistle (1), Tyler McCarthy (1), and Sam English (1) all scored in tonight's contest.
Seventeenth-ranked Towson (0-2) recorded five different goal scorers tonight, led by Ronan Fitzpatrick and Bode Maurer with two apiece. Fitzpatrick and Chop Gallagher (three assists) shared the team points lead with three points each.

How It Happened
- Syracuse opened the game with a pair of goals in the first three minutes, courtesy of Leo and Finn Thomson. After Towson scored its first goal with 10:54 to go in the first quarter, 'Cuse answered back with two more thanks to Spallina and Rhoa. The pattern would continue until the end of the first frame of action as Syracuse led 6-3 going into the second quarter.
- Hiltz grabbed his second and third goals of the night for the Orange, bolstered by another goal from Rhoa. Two goals from the Tigers in the second gave Syracuse a 9-5 advantage going into halftime.
- The second half was Syracuse's for the taking, as the Orange outscored the Tigers 9-2 in the final two frames of the contest. Both of Towson's second-half scores came in the third quarter, before being held scoreless for the last 19:56 of the game.
- 'Cuse had seven goals in the fourth frame from six different scorers, led by Rhoa picking up his final two goals of the game for an 18-7 Syracuse win.
