
Both XC Teams Take 12th at Nuttycombe Invite

The Syracuse men's and women's cross country teams each took 12th at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational – a hotly contested meet that featured over 30 ranked teams combined across the two races.
The Orange women scored 315 points, led by Savannah Roark's 22nd-place finish. She traversed the 6k course in 20:37.0. No. 5 Washington took the team title with 110 points.
As a team, the No. 28 Orange bested a some of the teams ranked in front of them heading into the meet, including No. 13 Lipscomb, No. 22 Boston College and No. 24 Northwestern.
Freshman Jayden Harberts (60th/21:06.1) was the second Orange runner across the line, which was third among freshmen at the meet. She was followed by Emma Eastman (21:08.5) in 66th and Rylie Lusk (21:11.4) in 69th. Olivia Joly rounded out the SU scoring in 98th place with a time of 21:25.7.
Madeline Heintz (21:26.0), Heidi Demeo (21:54.9) and Nyah Hernandez (22:33.0) also raced for the 'Cuse women.
The men were led by Assaf Harari (24:02.3), who took 34th overall. He was followed 13 spots behind by Sam Lawler (24:11.7). Benne Anderson (24:16.7) placed 60th, ahead of teammates Connor Ackley (24:29.0/75th) and Ethan Wechsler (24:45.9/109th).
Alex Comerford (25:13.5/135th) and Ruben Rojas Betanzos (25:43.3/157th) also competed for the men.
The teams are back in action next Saturday at the Paul Short Run.
