ORANGE VISIT CAL IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON ROAD GAME
• Syracuse goes on the road for the final time during the 2024 regular season when it visits California Saturday.
• The game will air on The CW, with Thom Brennaman (PxP), Max Browne (analyst) and Treavor Scales (reporter) on the call for the third-straight week.Â
ROAD WARRIORS
• After opening the season with four-straight home games, Syracuse will play its fifth road game in its last six contests Saturday at California.Â
• The Orange did not play a home game in October and had a 35-day stretch without a game played in the JMA Dome.
• It marks the second-straight year that Syracuse did not play a home game in October and went 30+ days between home games.
• The Orange will play back-to-back home games to end the regular season.
MCCORDÂ RISING
• QB Kyle McCord threw for a career-high 392 yards at Boston College and is nearing the Syracuse record for passing yards in a single season.
• McCord has thrown for 3,153 yards through nine games. That total ranks second on the 'Cuse single-season record list behind Ryan Nassib's 3,749 yards in 2012. In addition, his 275 completions rank second behind Nassib's 294 also in 2012.
• The senior is also on pace to set the single-season record for most passing yards per game. He is averaging 350.3, which would surpass the current record of 297.7 set by Eric Dungey in 2016. That total would also rank second on the ACC single-season record list.
• McCord has thrown for 300 yards in eight games this season, which is a single-season school record.
• McCord is just the second 'Cuse quarterback to record eight or more 300-yard passing performances in his career. Eric Dungey holds the school career record for 300-yard passing games (12).
SPREAD OFFENSE
• Syracuse joins Ohio State as the only two FBS schools that have three players who are averaging 65.0 yards receiving or more per game this season.Â
• WR Jackson Meeks leads the way with 72.6 ypg. WR Trebor Pena is right behind with 71.0 ypg, and TE Oronde Gadsden II Jr. is averaging 65.1 ypg.
• Gadsden and Meeks surpassed 100 yards receiving at Boston College. Gadsden made nine catches for 114 yards and a touchdown, while Meeks had seven receptions for 105 yards.Â
• It marked the first time that Syracuse has had two players with 100 receiving yards in a game since the 2018 season against NC State.
• A season-high 11 different players caught a pass at Pittsburgh.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• LB Marlowe Wax is placing his name among the all-time greats of Syracuse football.
• In addition to his rise on the forced fumbles list, Wax has now recorded 42 career tackles for loss, which ranks second all-time at Syracuse behind Dwight Freeney's 50.5.
• With four stops against Pittsburgh, Wax now has 315 tackles. He ranks 13th for tackles by a linebacker at Syracuse.
SERIES HISTORY
• Syracuse and California will meet for the third time and the first time since 1968.
• The Orange won the first meeting between the squads, 20-14, in Archbold Stadium. The Bears shut out the Orange, 43-0, in Berkeley the next season.
A WIN WOULD …Â
• Give the Orange three road wins in a season for the first time since the 2018 campaign.
• Give Syracuse its 761st all-time victory (includes 11 wins from 2004-06 that were vacated by the NCAA). The Orange currently rank 21st on the FBS ledger of winningest programs. Syracuse is one of 34 FBS schools to have accumulated 700+ wins.
