THE GAME
- Game two of a second three-game home stand is set for Sunday as the No. 20 Orange welcome their first top five opponent of the season to the JMA Wireless Dome, taking on No. 5 Duke at 4 p.m.
- ACC Network Extra will carry the game live on Sunday with Cameron Ezeir and John Eads on the call.
- This is the first of two meetings between the Orange and the Blue Devils, who clash to close the regular season on April 29 in Durham. Syracuse will play both Carolina teams twice this season.
- Tim Leonard '20 (PxP) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com, The Varsity App and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
THE DUKE SERIES
- Syracuse and Duke will meet for the 22nd time on Sunday. The Orange hold a firm 14-7 command of the series, winning last year's showdown 14-10 at home.
- 'Cuse has emerged victorious in five of the last six meetings and sit at 8-2 in the last 10 tilts.
- The Dome has been kind to the Orange when facing the Blue Devils: Syracuse is 5-0 all-time against Duke since a 12-11 win on May 21, 1994 at home.
- Sunday's game will be the earliest in the calendar year the Orange and Blue Devils have ever met. The two teams have met 10 times in the month of March, with 'Cuse leading in the month 6-4.Â
- The squads have played one another exclusively in the month of March since 2017. The last non-March showdown was a 14-8 'Cuse win on May 1, 2016 in Kennesaw, Georgia for the ACC Championship game.
A WIN AGAINST DUKE WOULD...
- Start the Orange off with a 4-2 mark for the first time since opening 2021 with a 4-2 record.
- Keep the Orange unblemished at home against Duke.
- Snap a two-game slide for the 'Cuse, both against top 20 opponents.
- Secure the first win over a team ranked in the top five of that week's USILA Coaches Poll since knocking off No. 5 Virginia 13-11 on April 24, 2021.
- Be the first home win over a top five team since doubling up the No. 3 Cavaliers 20-10 on Feb. 27, 2021.
- Bump the Orange to 1-1 in the ACC, marking a fourth-straight year of at least .500 in the first two league games
- Improve the Orange to 15-7 all-time against Duke and 6-3 in ACC games.
- Be the first top-five win for the Syracuse men's program under second-year head coach Gary Gait (0-5).
- Be the program's 932nd all-time victory, second most for a program behind Johns Hopkins (March 11).
- Tie the total number of wins from the 2022 season.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE DOME
- Over 15,000 fans have enjoyed seeing Syracuse improve to 3-1 at the JMA Wireless Dome this season.
- The 15,019 cumulative attendance leads the country in total attendance.
- The Orange have the second-best average attendance in the country with 3,755 attending per home game.Â
- The three home games this season are all in the top seven of single game attendance numbers so far in 2023.
