Sophomore Abby Incorvaia scored 3:48 into the contest and junior Farrah Stephens-Martin tallied with 2:44 remaining to lead Syracuse (4-5-2, 1-3-0) past Pittsburgh (6-4-1, 0-3-0) in an ACC matchup at the SU Soccer Stadium.

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED

Both squads battled to break the deadlock and each time had opportunities in the final five minutes. Syracuse converted its best chance on a set piece started by Incorvaia's free kick. She played the ball into the box, junior Anna Croyle kept it alive with a header and Stephens-Martin finished the play, beating Pitt goalkeeper Elli Johnson at 87:16 of the match.

LIGHTNING STRIKES

The Orange, held scoreless over the last five matches, appeared to open the scoring 1:48 into the match. Incorvaia took a long feed from junior Jasmine Nixon, crossed over her defender and found the net. Video Review wiped out the tally on an offsides call.

Despite the disappointment, Syracuse remained on the attack. Two minutes after the disallowed goal, senior Moo Galbus drove the left side and hit a hard drive toward goal. Johnson stopped the attempt but could not corral the ball and Incorvaia finished the play with her third goal of the season.

PITT REPLIES

The visiting Panthers, after launching 13 shots in the first half, continued to press the issue after the intermission. Pittsburgh drew even when Desiree Reed's shot just passed the outreached arm of Naimoli at 67:21. It was Reed's first of the season.

MORE FROM MAYA

Junior goalkeeper Maya Naimoli, who entered the game leading the ACC in saves, added a season-high eight to her total. She had posted five in four different contests this fall but exceeded that against the Panthers.

With Syracuse clinging to a 2-1 lead in the last two minutes, Naimoli came up big, stopping Talyn Guthrie's try with 44 ticks on the game clock.

Syracuse improved its advantage in the all-time series to 13-10-4.
Pittsburgh had a 26-15 advantage in shots and a 9-6 margin in shots on goal.
