Syracuse (3-1-1) aims to start a new winning streak when it hosts Harvard (1-2-0) on Senior Day at the SU Soccer Stadium.
Syracuse-Harvard Series
Harvard has a 3-1 lead in the all-time series with Syracuse. The Crimson won the first matchup, 1-0, on Sept. 5, 2005. The lone Orange triumph in the pairing was a 1-0 triumph on Sept. 10, 2017. The most recent competition, on Sept. 3, 2023, resulted in a 5-2 Harvard victory.
Syracuse Status
The Orange saw their four-game unbeaten streak and three-match winning stretch end on Aug. 27 in a 2-1 loss to Niagara. Senior Moo Galbus scored her first collegiate goal for Syracuse.
Syracuse began the year with a tie followed by three consecutive triumphs, before the loss to the Purple Eagles.Â
Fifth-year player Vickie Jones leads the Orange with three goals. Sophomore Abby Incorvaia has two goals and two assists after five games. Maya Naimoli has played four of the five matches in goal and posted a 0.25 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
Senior Celebration
Syracuse will honor seven student-athletes and two managers in Senior Day festivities prior to kickoff. Players Julia Coval, Julia Dening, Moo Galbus, Vickie Jones, Chloe Joseph, Leda Naihin and Maya Naimoli will participate, along with managers Franny Kloska and Owen McGarry.
Harvard Status
The Crimson earned their first victory of the fall on Aug. 27, defeating Fairfield, 4-0.Â
Freshman Brooke Huleatt, and seniors Jasmine Leshnick and Ólöf Kristinsdóttir each have two goals for Harvard. Huleatt also has two assists. Sophomore Nicole Bidun (1.33 GAA, .667 save %) and freshman Olivia Busby (2.67 GAA, .556 save %) have evenly split time in goal.
Promotions
In addition to the pre-game Senior Day ceremony, the SU Soccer Stadium will host a student penalty shootout with Otto as goalkeeper at halftime. There will also be a Lucky Restaurant promotion during the contest.
