Six NCAA Tournament Teams on New Slate
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Another challenging slate awaits the 2026 Syracuse University field hockey team as the Orange gear up to face six teams from last year's NCAA Tournament, including half of the teams that reached the semifinals.
The latest chapter in the Syracuse field hockey story will feature a road-heavy schedule with nine regular season games away from home. The Orange host UMass Lowell in mid-September for their home opener.
Two local exhibition games unofficially open the year as Syracuse heads to the Capital Region to tune up with University at Albany (Aug. 20) before a brief trek to Ithaca to scrimmage Cornell (Aug. 23).
New England is on the radar for the Orange to open the season, leading off at NCAA Tournament qualifier Fairfield (Aug. 28) before taking on the Huskies of Northeastern (Aug. 30) in Boston.
Syracuse's second time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge sends the Orange to Piscataway, New Jersey, first to face Ohio State (Sept. 4) and against host Rutgers (Sept. 6), the same lineup the 'Cuse faced a year ago in Columbus, Ohio.
The Orange head to Central Pennsylvania for a fifth-straight road game to open the season, taking on the Bison of Bucknell University (Sept. 13).
On Friday, September 18, the Orange finally make their way home to take on the River Hawks of UMass Lowell, the third-ever meeting between the teams.
It's ACC time after the home opener, but it's back on the road for three straight against NCAA Tournament teams from last season. Conference play opens in Charlottesville at the University of Virginia (Sept. 25) before the Orange head to Carolina to take on Wake Forest (Sept. 27). It's back to North Carolina to round out the second road swing, this time in Durham to meet Duke (Oct. 2).
After much time on the road, Syracuse will play five of its final six games at J.S. Coyne Stadium. The first ACC home game of the year comes against Louisville (Oct. 9) before a clash with 2025 NCAA Semifinalist Harvard (Oct. 11).
It's one more trip to the Triangle for Syracuse to take on another NCAA Semifinalist from last season, North Carolina (Oct. 18) for the final road contest of the regular season.
East meets West back at Coyne as Syracuse hosts both Stanford (Oct. 23) and California (Oct. 25) before concluding the regular season against longtime foe Boston College (Oct. 30).
Postseason arrives in November, kicking off at the ACC Tournament. The University of North Carolina will host this year's ACC Tournament, running from November 3 to the championship game on November 6.
This year's NCAA Tournament, with the first two rounds on campus sites, runs from November 13 to November 22. University of Louisville will host this year's NCAA Championship Weekend at Trager Stadium. Semifinal action is slated for November 20 with the title game on November 22.
